Patrick J. Kennedy, the nation’s leading political voice on mental illness, addiction, and other brain diseases, will deliver opening remarks for the The Northeastern University School of Law (NUSL)’s Annual Health Law Conference, taking place at Northeastern University, April 12 -13. The conference’s theme, “Diseases of Despair: The Role of Policy and Law,” will examine the linkage between deaths from suicide, substance use, and overdose and explore health determinants such as education, labor markets, and marital patterns. Kennedy will discuss the critical roles that policy and policy enforcement play in addressing inequities in treatment for mental illnesses and addiction.
