Patrick J. Kennedy will participate in a panel discussion on June 11 at 9pm EST following the premiere of documentary Wake Up at the We Are One film festival.
In Wake Up, executive producers Danny Kerth and Alex Lindley explore the frontlines of suicide prevention. Lindley and Kerth both have loved ones who died by suicide and shared a desire to change the dialogue around it. During their freshmen year at Mizzou, their mutual friend Carolyn Dolan died by suicide. Two years later, when Lindley lost his best friend, Ryan Candice, he felt compelled to do something. He joined forces with Kerth, whose father died by suicide when Kerth was 9 years old.
Lindley and Kerth founded the nonprofit Project Wake Up with the goal of combating the stigma surrounding mental illness. The film is the culmination of nearly six years of work that began with fundraising and finding and securing director Nate Townsend, a Clayton High School graduate who has called Los Angeles home for the past decade.
