On October 20th, 2020 Patrick J. Kennedy will speak at the Illinois Mental Health Task Force’s Virtual Summit: How Mental Illness and Trauma Affect Quality of Life.

This is the third session in a larger series: Improving the Court and Community Response to Persons with Mental Illness and Co-Occurring Disorders Through Compassion and Hope.

Session description: This year the world was confronted with a deadly and disruptive global pandemic. As the number of cases of COVID-19 increase, so do reports of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation among our communities. The mental health effects of COVID-19 and racial inequity compound an already everpresent reality – not everyone has equal access to mental health care. As a world leader, our country needs to prioritize policy measures to address this. Congressman Kennedy will discuss how federal legislative and policy initiatives continue to evolve in ways that impact the delivery of mental health treatment in an equitable way.

The event will run from 3:00-5:00pm CT.
