Patrick J. Kennedy will serve as the opening speaker for National Opioid and Substance Awareness Day, taking place September 21, 2021. The event’s theme will be “The Impact of COVID-19 on Substance Misuse and What Can Be Done.” Participants will learn from experts and from those with lived experience about substance misuse, evidence-based treatment, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Virtual Town Hall event is free for all, and will offer anonymous screenings for mental health, substance use disorder, and suicide risk.
National Opioid and Substance Awareness Day is hosted by Brigham Comprehensive Opioid Response and Education Program and McLean Hospital in partnership with The Kennedy Forum.
