The Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame will honor Patrick J. Kennedy at its 54th Annual Banquet, inducting him into the Hall of Fame Saturday May 5, 2018 at The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, Rhode Island.
Kennedy served three terms in the Rhode Island State Legislature (1988 – 1994) and served eight terms representing the 1st Congressional District of Rhode Island (1994 – 2011), during which he served a term as Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (1999 – 2001). He was a lead sponsor of the 2008 Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, also known as the Federal Parity Law.
The Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame honors individuals who have “brought credit to Rhode Island, brought Rhode Island into prominence, and contributed to the history and heritage of the state.” Other 2018 inductees include Judge Francis J. Darigan, Jr., Kenneth R. Dooley; Congressman Ronald K. Machtley; Ronald R. S. Picerne; James P. Riley; Rudolph E. Tanzi, Ph.D.; Spencer W. Viner, Esq.; and Patrice Wood.
